Planning Enforcement
You may have received a letter or a visit from the Council’s Planning Enforcement Officer about a potential breach of planning control in terms of what they consider is unauthorised development, which is something that requires planning permission.
Common breaches of planning control include:
- unauthorised building, extensions or engineering works
- unauthorised works being carried out on a listed building
- material changes of use of land or buildings to a different use
- development that has not been carried out in accordance with planning permission
- failure to comply with a condition related to planning permission
- display of advertisements without the required consent
The planning system can be complex and it is easy to overlook the need for planning permission. Many cases can be resolved by negotiation with the Council and it is important to engage at an early stage to avoid formal enforcement action. This is where we come in as we specialise in the resolution of unauthorised development. If you have received an Enforcement Notice we advise that you get in touch and we can advise on the best way forward.
